GRANITE STATE GASTROENTEROLOGY
COVID-19 UPDATE
March 18, 2020

Granite State Gastroenterology (GSG) is implementing changes to how we evaluate patients due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning March 24, 2020, GSG will evaluate all patients using telemedicine. Telemedicine uses a telephone and, when needed, a video connection between two devices, such as a computer and smartphone, to allow a health care professional and patient to have a “virtual visit”. Telemedicine will allow us to continue to see, evaluate, and treat patients with gastrointestinal conditions while maintaining social distance as has been recommended by public health authorities such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). By doing this we hope to protect our patients and staff from potential COVID-19 exposure or infection.

GSG will continue to see select patients in our office. A determination on whether a patient will be seen in the office will be made after that patient’s telemedicine visit is complete. Factors that will be considered include the complexity and severity of a patient’s problem weighed against their risk of serious illness should he or she become infected with COVID-19.

GSG will continue to perform endoscopic procedures (upper endoscopy, colonoscopy) on select patients according to the severity of their condition. GSG is rescheduling routine outpatient procedures such as screening colonoscopies until the risk of COVID-19 transmission has decreased. We currently anticipate resuming routine procedures in July.

GSG remains available to our community for new patient visits/consultations as well as follow-up of patients who have previously been seen by one of our physicians or advanced practice providers.

This is a challenging time for our community. GSG remains committed to providing each patient with high quality, compassionate, timely, and cost-conscious digestive healthcare.
